WORKSHOP BREAKDOWN

DAY 1 | CREATIVE LIGHTING | NIKOS NIKOLOPOULOS

The Artistic Process
Being an artist isn't easy, keep at it. Nikos shares his daily process and explain why real world inspiration is so much better than technical knowledge.

Creative Lighting Philosophy
Creative Lighting is a software-agnostic philosophy whose principles can be applied in all scenarios: day, night, inside and outside, just like in film and painting. Nikos shares how the greats of Cinematography have inspired the Creative Lighting concept, and how he brought cinematic lighting techniques into an entirely different world - the virtual world.

Creative Lighting Exteriors
Nikos takes you through his creative process of selecting the right time of day for your exterior project.

DAY 2 | CITYSCAPE DIGITAL | DAMIAN FENNELL

The Imagemaking Process
Making commercial imagery is the result, whether we like it or not, of a partnership between Artist and Client (or Designer in the case of the in-house artist). Damian goes deep into how to navigate this relationship to achieve great visuals, in a session blending artistic process and creative direction skills.

The Anatomy of an Image
Analysis of the fundamental building blocks of a strong visual: composition, tone, colour, focal hierarchy.

Nikos and Damian make the perfect team and they are able to capture your attention from beginning to end with their creative passion. The Lighting Workshop is definitely the kind of course which generates new ideas and motivation to continue exploring the magic of light.
— Chandra Juanes, Foster and Partners
The workshop was an inspiring reminder of what we should all be more focused on as artists. Nikos and Damian delve back to often forgotten first principles of image creation. Delivered with excellent technical knowledge of how to best implement the theory in day to day practice of visualisation and supported by a wide array of source inspiration from film, photography and painting. The course, for me, was a much needed, fresh perspective on the craft.
